The Heatons In Bloom Project

On-street planters were once a main feature of the Heatons, bringing a splash of colour to our shopping areas. Unfortunately, local authority budget cuts several years ago saw the removal of planters from district centres and the annual blooms have become a much missed feature of the Heatons.

Heatons in Bloom is an initiative to bring plants back to the Heatons, particularly around the main shopping areas through displays outside Heatons shops, but also in public spaces looked after by local community groups, and outside local schools. The aim is to encourage displays of plants to be ready for Saturday, 13 June 2020. Following discussion & advice from the Rotary who run the annual Heatons Open Gardens, mid-June was deemed a good time for plants to be ready to go into baskets, planters etc, and to ensure that colour & blooms remain throughout the summer months.

How to get involved
